Today's class was focused on usability testing. We engaged in a hands-on activity where we folded paper airplanes and then wrote instructions for others to replicate the process. This activity highlighted the notion that what seems straightforward in our minds may not be as easy to understand from a different individual's point of view.

We've accomplished several milestones today:

  1. We submitted our week 2 pitch video: Team 1B Week 2 Pitch Video

  2. We've updated our Grove Quest high-fidelity prototype on Figma: Figma Prototype

  3. Our portfolio static website has been deployed, although it's still under development.

In addition to these accomplishments, we also had a little bit of fun today and took a cohort and group photo!

Front-end

Today was a lesson in content curation and presentation. In our bid to create a comprehensive record of our project journey on the website, we initially leaned towards incorporating all our learnings and experiences. This, however, resulted in verbose and potentially monotonous content.

We realized the importance of balance - communicating the pivotal aspects of our design journey in a concise and reader-friendly manner. This didn't necessarily mean reducing content, but rather thoughtfully curating and presenting it for maximum impact and ease of reading. This lesson has been crucial in influencing our approach to the further stages of development.

Grove Quest

We made significant progress on our Figma prototype today and refined our puzzles and trivia questions based on the latest email communication with the client. One interesting thing we learned is that the Comic Sans font is more child-friendly and could enhance user-friendliness. However, we are considering dyslexic-friendly font alternatives for better inclusivity.

All in all, it was a productive day for the games team, and we are gearing up for tomorrow's week 2 video pitch submission.

Class

Today, we delved into the concept of prototyping. We drew our prototype idea on paper to visualize our plan better. It was a productive exercise as it helped us refine our concept. Additionally, we shared our prototype idea with the Curio Robot team, providing us with an opportunity to receive feedback and suggestions.

Project

We had a discussion with Professor Grizou concerning the email on our choice of backend/database implementation. These conversations are crucial in making informed decisions about the technology stack we use.

We also recorded our Week 1 pitch video to summarize our progress and to share our future plans. You can watch the video here.

Moving forward, we held discussions about our plans, focusing on refining our prototype and ensuring our technology decisions align with our project goals.
